In this section, my dear brothers and sisters, I have sought to cover knowledge which one is obligated to have with regards to the Testimony of Faith.
The Testimony of Faith, as you are aware, is the greatest fundamental of Islām for which reason it is incumbent upon every person to familiarise themselves with it. It is one’s knowledge and fulfilment of the Shahādah which will determine one’s success or failure in this life and the next. The Shahādah is a matter of Paradise or Hell – thus it requires our greatest attention.
For this reason, I have included a section on the numerous and amazing virtues associated with the Shahādah. Upon reading its beautiful virtues one is forced to ask himself: what is it about the Shahādah that causes it to have such amazing virtues attached to it? To uncover this, one must understand what the Shahādah means. Thus, I have included a section which explains the meaning of the Shahādah to help one appreciate its virtues and to desire its rewards from Allāh the Exalted. Additionally, and perhaps more critically, how can one bear witness to something without understand its meaning? To remove this blameworthy predicament and state of ignorance, one must acquaint himself thoroughly with the correct and precise meaning of the Shahādah.
Not only is it necessary to understand the meaning of the Shahādah in order to benefit from its numerous and amazing rewards and virtues, one must also be aware of its pillars and conditions, without which one’s Shahādah is invalid.
Consequently, this section on the Shahādah is the most important section of all. It covers the most basic knowledge you are required to possess in order to enter into the fold of Islām, and be eligible to enter al-Jannah which Allāh has created for you.
I ask Allāh the Most Generous to grant you a correct and profound understanding of the Shahādah and to help you practice its implications by fulfilling its pillars and conditions. I ask Allāh to bless you with all of its amazing virtues and rewards and that he makes the Shahādah the last words we utter sincerely before we die.
