Qurʾān

The Qurʾān is the literal Word of Allāh and the last of His revelation to mankind which He revealed to the greatest of all Prophets, Muḥammad ﷺ through the greatest of angels, Jibrīl.

In light of its importance, this section deals with a study of the Qurʾān from a number of different perspectives, all of which seek to assist the student in gaining a profounder understanding of the Book of Allāh, a greater appreciation of its message and in acting as a motivator for practising its dictates.

This field is divided into a number of sections.

  • The first section deals with ʿUlūm al-Qurʾān which studies matters ABOUT the Qurʾān such as its history, preservation, causes of revelation, places of revelation etc.
  • The second section lays the foundation for understanding the words and message of the Qurʾān: Uṣūl al-Tafsīr or the Fundamentals of Exegesis. Exegesis is a fancy word for ‘explanation’. In order to explain the Qurʾān, one must adhere to the guidelines laid down by the erudite exegetes which have been derived from the Divine Sources. This topic also enlightens us to who can and who cannot explain the Qurʾān.
  • The third section is an implementation of the second section: explanation of the Qurʾān or Tafsīr al-Qurʾān using the principles of exegesis. In this section I have sought to provide the commentaries of authoritative exegetes for every āyah in the Qurʾān in a simple fashion.
  • I have also added a separate section which deals with the vocabulary of the Qurʾān for those who want to look up individual words and understand their linguistic and exegetical explications.

I will add other relevant sections as time goes on if Allāh wills.

I ask Allāh to illuminate our hearts with the beautiful Qurʾān and to make us amongst those who read it, love it, understand it, memorise it, practise it and call to it sincerely for His sake alone.
