Due to the central importance of the Qurʾān in Islām, prodigious effort has been expended in studying it from every significant angle for a number of different purposes; all of which have served to preserve it just as it was revealed, word for word and letter for letter, to our noble Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ .
This section covers knowledge-based issues concerning the Qurʾān. ʿUlūm al-Qurʾān is a study ABOUT the Qurʾān, not necessarily a study to understand its words which is the domain of the study of Tafsīr (Exegesis). Accordingly, it covers topics such as the definition of the Qurʾān, how it was revealed, where it was revealed, the circumstances under which it was revealed, how it was preserved etc.
When I studied ʿUlūm al-Qurʾān, it increased my love and attachment to the Qurʾān exponentially. I ask Allāh that He does the same for you.
